60 Minutes is the most successful news magazine in TV history. I have been a big fan for many years. It is more than a news program; it is part of American culture. It premiered on September 1968 on CBS and was created by Don Hewitt and Bill Leonard. In this post, I’d like to give some facts about this very credible and successful TV news magazine.
The main reason 60 Minutes became so popular is that it has the most talented journalists in broadcasting history on its roster. Here are a few of the most famous:

– Morley Safer’s 1983 report on the “Lenell Geter” case, which exposed a wrongful conviction. This interview was crucial for Geter’s release.
– Mike Wallace interview with Dr. Jack Kevorkian (a public advocate of assisted suicide for the terminally ill). Dr. Kevorkian claimed to have helped end the lives of some 130 willing subjects. In September of 1998, Dr. Jack Kevorkian videotaped himself injecting Thomas Youk, who suffered from Lou Gehrig’s disease, with a dose of lethal drugs.
