Most Popular day of the week for Network TV Series Season 2016-17

Even in the era of DVR and streaming services, many fans still like to watch their popular shows the first time is aired. Evidences of that are TV ratings that show how millions of viewers tune up weekly to watch them.  Networks and advertisers follow these ratings very closely to price correctly each time slot.

For this post we calculated all the ratings for season 2016-17 to determine which day of the week has more viewers. We only took into consideration for this analysis, network TV series (sitcom and drama). We did not include sporting or entertainment events or reality shows. The day of the week with the highest average of viewers was Tuesday. No surprise here if you take in consideration that the most popular TV series is on Tuesday, NCIS. Also helped, that two of the most popular new shows for the season, This is Us and Bull, were also on Tuesday.

One surprise is that Friday had better viewers average than Monday and Wednesday for TV series. Below is the graph with the average for each day of the season 2016-17.
